Is normally defined in term of the systolic pressure, which is the maximum pressure produced in the larger arteries by each heartbeat, and diastolic pressure, which is the constant pressure maintained in the arteries between heartbeats, the blood pressure measured by means of a sphygmomanometer is expressed in millimeters of mercury . The normal figure for the systolic pressure is 120 millimeters and for the diastolic 80 millimeters it is really the average .
If, the blood pressure in not maintained at the normal range for age and gender i.e. raised blood pressure there will be palpitations, shortness of breath on exertion, headache and change in eyesight with blurring of vision .
Its main effects will be on the heart and blood vessels . therefore the maintenance of the blood pressure within the normal range is very essential for normal life .
